Abstract : Herbicides are the category of plant protection products most widely used in Switzerland in terms of the quantity of active substance weighted by the area under cultivation. It is also the category with the highest risk potential for aquatic organisms (exposure-toxicity-ratio, ETR). At the same time, the reduction or even elimination of herbicides can lead to an intensification of tillage that is detrimental to biological activity. In this study, the effects of strategies that limit the use of both herbicides and tillage on the development of weed flora and wheat yield were assessed using the Herbiscope experiment, over the course of a six-year crop rotation. Three years of wheat were taken into account in the analysis: 2020, 2021 and 2022. Taking into account the three years of the study, the results show that there is no significant effect of weed flora on yield, regardless of the strategy implemented. However, there were inter-annual disparities. The level of weed infestation after weed control is always very low. The weed control strategies implemented for wheat and its preceding crops, which limit the use of herbicides and tillage, have made it possible to maintain weed levels low enough not to have a greater impact on yield than more intensive strategies.
