Résumé : Thrips setosus est signalé pour la première fois de France sur l’arbuste ornemental Hydrangea sp. (l’hortensia) en 2014. Ce thrips est originaire d’Asie orientale où il est considéré comme un ravageur, notamment du fait de son rôle de vecteur du virus TSWV (Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus, virus de la maladie bronzée de la tomate). Sur le terrain, une confusion avec des espèces proches est possible. Les principaux critères pour le différencier sont décrits ici. Les principaux éléments sur sa biologie et son impact potentiel sont discutés, permettant d’identifier un niveau de risque pour la filière végétale française.

Abstract : Thrips setosus is reported for the first time in France on the ornamental shrub Hydrangea sp. (hortensia) in 2014. This thrips is native to East Asia where it is regarded as a pest because of its role as vector of the virus TSWV (Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus). In the field, confusion with nearby species is possible. The main criteria for differentiating it are described here. Key features of its biology and its potential impact are discussed, enabling to identify a level of risk for the plant sector in France.
