Abstract : The Directive on the Sustainable use of pesticides (2009/128/EC) requires Member States to promote Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and low pesticide-input pest management. The National Action Plans (NAP) shall describe how the general principles of IPM will be implemented by all professional users. The NAPs of a broad number of countries were analysed as to which measures contribute and actively promote IPM implementation at farm level. Several MS have set up networks of demonstration farms, initiated specific training courses on IPM for advisors and included information about IPM, biological and non-chemical control alternatives in their professional training curricula. The presentation will describe in detail approaches of demonstration farms and national initiatives in selected Member States to foster IPM uptake.
