Résumé : La végétation herbacée peut concurrencer fortement ou empêcher totalement la régénération naturelle des forêts. La fétuque géante (Festuca gigantea L.) ou la myrtille (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) exercent ce type de compétition vis-à-vis des semis naturels en hêtraie-sapinière de moyenne montagne. Il faut maîtriser ou parfois éliminer ce type de végétation pour permettre l’installation des semis et réussir la régénération. Face à la contrainte de réduction de l’utilisation des herbicides en forêt il est nécessaire de développer de nouveaux outils alternatifs aux techniques chimiques. Les résultats d’une expérimentation, suivie durant 5 ans, mettent en évidence avec succès, l’efficacité de nouveaux outils sur mini-pelle de 3,5t. (Scarificateur réversible et Pioche Herse) pour éliminer et contrôler durablement cette végétation concurrente.

Abstract : Competitive weeds can prevent natural forest regeneration. Festuca gigantea L. and Vaccinium myrtillus L. induces such a competition on natural tree seedlings in low-mountain beech-fir forest stands. Controlling them is necessary to foster seedling establishment and forest regeneration. Since the use of herbicides in forest environment is strictly restricted, developing alternative methods is necessary. The present study shows the efficiency of mechanical tools (Scarifier rake and pickaxe-arrow) mounted on 3.5 t mini-excavator in successfully controlling competitive weeds in a 5-years experiment.
